Anyway
It’s a day like any other
I sit around and think, “Why bother?”
It’ll rain, anyway…
I drink my coffee while it’s hot and
I put some brandy in it, why not?
Cause, I am late…anyway…
Catch the bus and go to work and spend the morning feeling hurt
Wondering why today would be any different
Then he walked into my office
He said “Good Morning, how are you, Miss?
What’s your name, anyway?”
So I looked down at my nametag
Asked him if he could read
And then, we both smiled for a while
Caught the bus and went back home
Feeling a little less alone
Funny how one day could make things different
Yesterday he brought me flowers
We sat around and talked for hours
We read Marx… in the dark
It’s a day like any other…
