Change the Station
Scene one, exterior day. She’s at the window. Her mind’s far away… Cut
Zoom out. He’s out the door. Suitcase he packed the night before
CHORUS:
And I’m wondering whether there’ll be a happy ending and if they’ll make it through together. Is this love or simply a creation of my imagination? I think I’ll change the station
Take five, interior night. Cameras are rolling. He screws up the line… Cut
Midnight. Take ninety-three. Saying “I love you” how hard can that be?…
CHORUS
And then the camera pans across a crowded room and he walks in not a minute too soon
And when he sees her the screen fades to black and there’s a man on my TV selling a healthcare plan…
He grabs her hand. Gets on one knee and the crowd starts to clap, Oh…
She smiles and nods a yes, there’ll be a sequel next summer I guess…
CHORUS
